Here are two unusual exotic looking tall annuals which you can experiment with in your summer garden. Spice up your planting routine with these stunning plant specimens from your garden centre.
Nicotiana Sylvertris is an extremely large yet elegant flowering tobacco plant that can reach 5 feet tall! It’s luscious white flowers are slim, long beautiful floral explosions that dangle in clusters atop sturdy green stems. Its’ tranquil blooms begin in July or August so now is the perfect time to get this plant settled into your garden landscape. But does not fit well into prim and proper gardens – it suits a wilder looking garden. It is native to South America and has a beautiful scent which is strongest at night. Its unique tropical flowers and foliage are pleasing to the eye.
Cleome’s nickname is spider flower which is named after its amazing looking flowers/seedpods. The seedpods that develop underneath the flower as it blooms give a peculiarly beautiful insect-like look. Their blooms come in white, pink, or lavender and adorn the top of leafy stems that can grow up to 6 feet tall! They adore sun but need a bit of space around them as they are so spectacular. Water them well for best results. This rare beauty looks fantastic in a perennial garden.
